Now the entire herd \u2014 including Buck (SIMON PEGG), Manny (RAY ROMANO), Ellie (QUEEN LATIFAH), Sid (JOHN LEGUIZAMO) and Diego (DENIS LEARY) \u2014 must work together, on a journey in order to survive the global Scrat-tastophe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>Back in 2002, the first <em>Ice Age<\/em> movie was a fun family adventure and then we got three sequels which ranged from being entertaining to tolerable. Now we get <strong><em>Ice Age: Collision Course<\/em><\/strong>, a painful animated-adventure that makes me long for Pixar\u2019s <em>Cars 2<\/em>. The humor was basically non-existent (I chuckled once at Scrat) and the story is a stretch and felt like should\u2019ve been a direct-to-video flick than anything in theaters and it would appear, based on its bad box office returns, audiences agreed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/kSj5dKz.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Ice Age: Collision Course\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/kSj5dKz.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I tend to be lenient on animated movies knowing the target audience is generally younger but I really had a hard time getting through this and even though it\u2019s only a reasonable 94-minutes in running time (with end credits), boy it felt a lot longer than the writing was bad and I couldn\u2019t even appreciate some decent animation. Actually shows how far the animation has improved.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Scrat: Spaced Out (14:42; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This is merely the animated short some of which was ultimately featured in the film.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Scratasia: Scrat\u2019s Solo Adventures (4:13; HD)<\/u><\/strong> looks at Scrat\u2019s stories from all five <em>IA<\/em> movies.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Mysteries of the Scratazons (5:13; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This is an actual featurette that provides some green-screen interviews with the filmmakers breaking down the story.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Star Signs of the Animal Kingdom (4:42; HD)<\/u><\/strong> is a lame but kid-friendly feature looking at the signs of some of these characters.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The Science of It All: deGrasse Tyson debunks (9:18; HD)<\/u><\/strong> has the famous scientist looking at the science featured in the movie and how it works in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>Last up is <strong><u>Figaro \u201cSing-Along\u201d (1:47; HD)<\/u><\/strong>, a <strong><u>Gallery<\/u><\/strong> and a <strong><u>Theatrical Trailer (2:26; HD)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/mc7dbi6.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Ice Age: Collision Course\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/mc7dbi6.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>4K UHD VIDEO \u2014 5.0\/5, BD VIDEO \u2014 5.0\/5<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fox releases <strong><em>Ice Age: Collision Course<\/em><\/strong> onto 4K UHD disc presented in its original 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and a 2160p ultra high-def transfer. The movie might stink but animation seems to lend itself to taking full advantage of the format; colors are fantastically vibrant and detail is sharp throughout. I also didn\u2019t notice any obvious instances of artifacts, aliasing, banding or other flaws making for a excellent looking transfer.<\/p>\n<p>Same goes for the standard Blu-ray and its 1080p high-definition transfer. Colors are just as bright and look pretty darn good. There is a noticeable difference between the UHD and BD but for those who haven\u2019t upgraded (and presumably it\u2019s a high percentage), you can\u2019t go wrong just picking up the Blu-ray.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>4K UHD AUDIO \u2014 5.0\/5, BD AUDIO \u2014 5.0\/5<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not to be outdone, the UHD disc comes with a Dolby Atmos track which sounds incredible. There\u2019s actually quite fair amount of action-centric sequences in the film and they resonate through each and every available channel very nicely with some robustness at times while dialogue levels sound crisp and clear so you can hear Romano\u2019s still nasally voice or Leguizamo\u2019s frantic tone. As per other Fox UHD releases, the Blu-ray for some reason is a DTS-HD MA 7.1 track but it still sounds good even if the Atmos is just a hint better.
