9 to 5<\/em><\/strong>, written by Patricia Resnick and directed by Colin Higgins, is an of-the-moment social comedy with enduring ramifications, focusing on the trials and tribulations of three working women \u2014 Judy Bernly (JANE FONDA), Violet Newstead (LILY TOMLIN) and Dorelee Rhodes (DOLLY PARTON). Suffering under the world\u2019s worst\u2014and most sexist\u2014boss (DABNEY COLEMAN), the trio live out their madcap fantasies of revenge and ultimate triumph, proving themselves magnificently in the process.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Audio Commentaries<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Two tracks are included: 1) Actresses Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, and Producer Bruce Gilbert; and 2) Screenwriter Patricia Resnick and Film Historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman.<\/p>\n

Both tracks are good with the first being a bit lighthearted of friends laughing it up while the second is a bit more technical yet still entertaining.<\/p>\n

Nine @ 25: Revisiting a Comedy Classic (24:37; SD)<\/u><\/strong> is a retrospective featurette from 2005 (if my math is correct) and includes interviews with the cast and crew as they look back at the film and it\u2019s social commentary.<\/p>\n

Remembering Colin Higgins (4:42; SD)<\/u><\/strong> is a memoriam for the late director who passed away back in 1988.<\/p>\n

Singing Nine to Five Karaoke (3:27; SD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Now you can sing the hit song out of tune!<\/p>\n

Deleted Scenes (22:51; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 There are a few scenes included here, in rough form, but nothing particularly noteworthy but somewhat funny.<\/p>\n

Dolly Parton & Lily Tomlin Interviews (20:39; SD)<\/u><\/strong> are some extra footage with the two actresses discussing the film.<\/p>\n

Gag Reel (11:37; SD)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

9 to 5<\/em><\/strong> arrives on Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and show in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio. I was fairly impressed with this transfer of a 36 year old movie. Detail was well defined and colors were relatively bright while skin tones appeared to be natural. I didn\u2019t notice many major instances of dust marks or aliasing so it would seem MGM provided Twilight Time with a very nice HD master.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc includes the option of a 2.0 and 1.0 DTS-HD MA track and either one is serviceable but this is pretty much dialogue driven film with some nice mixture for the various songs thrown in which gives it some OK depth. There were no pops or heavy noise present.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This Blu-ray released through Twilight Time offers great video and audio transfers and a fine selection of special features.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
