But when a psychopath (BRAD DOURIF) claiming to be the Gemini Killer reveals intimate, gruesome details that only the true killer could possibly know, Kinderman is confronted with a horrifying truth that he cannot explain&#8230; and that will shake him to the core.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/gvaahUO.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"The Exorcist III\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/gvaahUO.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>After the truly odd and absolutely wacky sequel, <em>Exorcist II: The Heretic <\/em>(1977), a film so bad it\u2019s fun, it would seem <strong><em>The Exorcist III<\/em><\/strong> and all of the problems the production had with reshoots was a truly fine follow-up to the original and while there are still problems, one being some issues with pacing, I found this to be thoroughly engaging mainly due to the performances by Brad Dourif (intense as usual) and the veteran actor, George C. Scott as a tough-as-nails detective who eventually must stand up against pure evil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Written and Directed by William Peter Blatty, based off of his own novel (titled \u201cLegion\u201d), <strong><em>The Exorcist III<\/em><\/strong> somehow managed to be a perfectly acceptable sequel to the original, and even a movie that has developed a cult following, in spite of problems with the production. Scott, Director William Peter Blatty, Producer James Robinson, Peter King and others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We also get some <strong><u>Trailers (3:10; SD)<\/u><\/strong> and <strong><u>TV Spots (2:25; SD)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DISC 2:<br \/>\n<u>Director\u2019s Cut (1:44:58; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This is a new cut culled together from various sources (such as VHS) and apparently gets as close to the director\u2019s original vision as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Audio Interview with Writer\/Director William Peter Blatty<\/u><\/strong> is an interview with Blatty as he reflects back on the film all these years later and plays over the movie but not exactly a screen-specific commentary&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>A \u201cWonderfull\u201d Time (24:30; HD)<\/u><\/strong> is a new retrospective featurette on the making of <em>The Exorcist III<\/em> and includes new interviews with Producer Carter DeHaven, Actor Brad Dourif, Composer Barry De Vorzon and others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Signs of the Gemini (17:42; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This is a new interview with Actor Brad Dourif as he discusses his work on the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>The Devil in the Details (18:03; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Production Designer Leslie Dilley and others who worked behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Music for a Padded Cell (15:16; HD)<\/u><\/strong> has composer Barry De Vorzon talking about his process for creating the score for the film.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>All This Bleeding (28:49; HD)<\/u><\/strong> is a look at the problems with the production and the issues that arose during the reshoots and special effects work. I was pleasantly surprised with the video, colors are on the drabber side considering it is a darker subject but detail is well defined and sharp, there is some natural film grain\/noise but there were no signs of artifacts, aliasing, dust marks or scratches so it is a clean transfer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.25\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;\">As with most of Shout\u2019s releases, there\u2019s a choice between 5.1 and 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks, with my viewing being the default (5.1).
