<\/a>No Escape<\/em><\/strong> is an all around entertaining film perfect for a Saturday movie night. No, it doesn\u2019t make you think or have any profound performances but the acting isn\u2019t bad with Owen Wilson serving as a fine everyman type of character and Pierce Brosnan in his small part is a lot of fun. This is probably worthy of a rental.<\/p>\n

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Sing Street<\/em><\/strong> takes us back to 1980s Dublin seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy named Conor (FERDIA WALSH-PEELO) who is looking for a break from a home strained by his parents\u2019 relationship and money troubles, while trying to adjust to his new inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious, uber-cool and beautiful Raphina (LUCY BOYNTON), and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band\u2019s music videos. There\u2019s only one problem: he\u2019s not part of the band… yet. She agrees, and now Conor must deliver what he\u2019s promised \u2013 calling himself \u201cCosmo\u201d and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the decade, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Cast Auditions<\/u><\/strong> is a collection of footage for the various young roles.<\/p>\n

Anchor Bay releases Sing Street<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented in its original 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and given a solid, if not mundane, high-definition transfer. Detail isn\u2019t bad with some OK sharpness and colors appear to be well balanced and natural. There were no major instances of artifacts, aliasing or other flaws.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Where this disc excels is with the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track which takes full advantage of the variety of music strewn throughout while ambient noises coming from the rear channels gives the lossless track some nice depth. It\u2019s nothing extraordinary but for any music enthusiast, it is quite impressive.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Sing Street<\/em><\/strong> is another crowd-pleasing winner from John Carney who scored hits with Once <\/em>and Begin Again<\/em> (one of my personal favorites of 2014), and although it\u2019s not great, there is a nice coming-of-age emotion at the film\u2019s core. The performances from this young cast also is fantastic led by Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and Lucy Boynton. The Blu-ray released by Anchor Bay offers good video, great audio but falls short in the features department.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
