<\/a>Cutter\u2019s Way<\/em><\/strong> is, I\u2019d say, on the underappreciated side of things. Not only is the story compelling but the performances by Jeff Bridges and John Heard are exceptional to go along with Lisa Echhorn. The Blu-ray released through Twilight Time has a decent video transfer, good audio but does fall short in the features department.<\/p>\n

Cutter\u2019s Way<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 director Ivan Passer\u2019s and screenwriter Jeffrey Alan Fiskin\u2019s adaptation of Newton Thornburg\u2019s novel, \u2018Cutter and Bone\u2019 \u2014 provides a look at post-Vietnam, post-Watergate America, as exemplified by its trio of damaged protagonists: a slightly dim beach-boy gigolo (JEFF BRIDGES), a ferocious disabled veteran (JOHN HEARD), and the cynical, alcoholic young woman (LISA ECHHORN) they both love. It\u2019s a dark tale about the attempt to pin a murder on a fat-cat plutocrat (STEPHEN ELLIOTT)\u2014who may, in fact, be guilty.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Twilight Time releases Cutter\u2019s Way<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray and while it\u2019s not bad looking with a nice looking 1080p high-definition transfer and presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio, I did notice numerous instances of dust marks and specs throughout, so it\u2019s not exactly a clean looking transfer. However, colors looked decent enough and there were some natural film grain giving it a good edge over any DVD counterparts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Fairing a little better, the DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track gets good usage especially considering the bulk of the movie is dialogue-driven, which generally was clear throughout but there\u2019s also some nice depth when the score kicked in along with the few suspense-oriented scenes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Cutter\u2019s Way<\/em><\/strong> is, I\u2019d say, on the underappreciated side of things.
