Thackery\u2019s absence (hospitalized for cocaine addiction), a lack of affluent patients and financial missteps have led to a decision by the hospital\u2019s board to shutter the downtown location and move uptown. Algernon Edwards (ANDRE HOLLAND) jockeys to become Thackery\u2019s successor as Chief of Surgery, while fellow doctors, nurses, nuns and others grapple with personal and professional changes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/lwnVKRL.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"The Knick\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/lwnVKRL.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>This second season of <strong>\u201cThe Knick\u201d<\/strong> just kicks it up a notch from season one. The majority of the characters are fascinating though Owen\u2019s Thackery still shines bright but beyond that, each episode is compelling right up to a shocking, and gnarly season finale that could serve as a series finale as the third season, as of this writing, is still up in the air though executive producer Steven Soderbergh (who also helmed every episode) apparently wants to go to six seasons with the series. Although this is a darkly lit show, some color does manage to splash through but it is mostly darker tones. The bulk of the show is pretty much dialogue driven so there are some limitations yet the music does provide some depth and that dialogue is crisp and clear throughout with no discernible hisses, as one should expect from a newer television series.
