And that someone else is Jericho Stewart (KEVIN COSTNER), a violent sociopath who cares about no one. At first the procedure didn\u2019t seem to work but after escaping transport back to prison, Jerico ends up at Pope\u2019s old home. Armed with the entry code, he goes inside and begins to assault Pope\u2019s wife, Jill (GAL GADOT), but then suddenly starts seeing, and worse yet, feeling Pope\u2019s life in flashes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Soon enough, Jericho takes on the personality of Pope, meaning he can speak multiple languages, has the smarts to escape just about any situation and even love towards Jill and her daughter; love, as he mentions in the film, is a term he knows nothing about. However, his more greedy part of his personality does come through especially when he knows Pope hid a bag full of money.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/lXtvyjZ.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Criminal\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/lXtvyjZ.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, feeling left out in the wind following Pope\u2019s murder, The Dutchman makes plans of his own, first offering the wormhole code to the U.S. arsenal to the Russians while international terrorist Heimdahl and his seemingly endless number of henchmen, not to mention his right-hand woman (ANTJE TRAUE), want the tech as they were once comrades in the fight against the world powers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Listen, <strong><em>Criminal<\/em><\/strong> isn\u2019t some masterful or smart thriller, albeit at times I think it thinks it\u2019s smarter than it actually is, and it is utterly uneven with at times reminding me of the <em>Bourne<\/em> franchise sans any of the fun factor with a mixture of the wonky science in <em>Face\/Off<\/em>. Still, the performances headlined by Kevin Costner with the other veterans like Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones merely filling generic roles and newcomers Gal Gadot and, especially Alice Eve, being underutilized. Ryan Reynolds has a brief role though strangely despite seeing a comeback with <em>Deadpool<\/em>, his image and name are nowhere to be seen on the box art or even in the credit block (he is in the end credit scroll however).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Tt4FZcP.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Criminal\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Tt4FZcP.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Directed by Ariel Vromen who previously helmed a few halfway quality drama-thrillers including <em>The Iceman<\/em> with Michael Shannon, <em>Danika<\/em> starring Marisa Tomei and <em>Rx<\/em> with Eric Balfour, none of which were particularly memorable yet passable entertainment, <strong><em>Criminal<\/em><\/strong> is more of the same; makes for a decent enough rental, not much more.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This release comes with a glossy and reflective <strong>slip cover<\/strong>. Inside is a redemption code for the <strong><u>Digital Copy<\/u><\/strong> and a <strong><u>Blu-ray Copy<\/u><\/strong> (where all these features are contained).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em><u>Criminal <\/u><\/em><\/strong><strong><u>Intent (40:03; HD)<\/u><\/strong> is a behind-the-scenes making-of featurette comprised of interviews with members of the cast and crew discussing the plot and characters. That said, this 2160p UHD transfer, possibly upscaled from a 2K resolution, does look fantastic showcasing excellent and brilliant colors throughout with fine and well defined detail. I\u2019m not sure if I can say this is reference quality work for anyone wanting to show off their 4K system but it\u2019s impressive enough.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: justify;\">The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is a bit mixed. While it does provide for clear dialogue levels and the music\/soundtrack makes nice usage of the front and rear channels, the LFE track does seem to go into overdrive and rather than giving anything strong or robust, it was more of an annoyance more than anything.
