Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>In the years since we first fell for Toula (NIA VARDALOS) and Ian (JOHN CORBETT), they have raised a headstrong daughter, Paris (ELENA KAMPOURIS), while trying to keep the spark alive. But just as they think they\u2019re balancing an independent teen, aging parents \u2014 Gus (MICHAEL CONSTANTINE) and Maria (LAINIE KAZAN) \u2014 and the rest of the irrepressible clan, the reveal of a \u201cshocking\u201d secret, that the parents were never legally married, will bring the three generations of this family closer than ever.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2<\/em><\/strong> isn\u2019t terrible. Not by a long shot. However, it\u2019s not incredible funny but has a few amusing moments and for fans of the original, they\u2019ll probably enjoy seeing the same characters come together again. It\u2019s also a film, I suspect, works for those who can identify with the situation, meaning they have a large, tight-knit family who go through some of the same situations and embroiled in the same, albeit with love, arguments. Myself, however, I have a small family and so some of the jokes didn\u2019t quite work and there did seem to be some timing issues with the comedy. The acting is OK at best although Michael Constantine and Lainie Kazan are the highlights.<\/p>\n

That being said, I\u2019ve found worse ways to spend 88-minutes (sans credits) as you can at least see the cast having a good time with one another. Even with a predictable plot, this is a film probably a worthwhile rental though it does help to see the original first (it\u2019s been at least 10 years since I last saw it). The downside is it did come out probably 10 years too late but as it is, it\u2019s at least a passable, if not forgettable, family comedy.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Features are a tad light with Making The Greekquel (11:40; HD)<\/u><\/strong> featurette, My Big Fat Greek Dinner (14:34; HD)<\/u><\/strong> roundtable with the cast (Vardalos, Corbett, Fatone, Mandylor), and a Gag Reel (4:05; HD)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Universal releases My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray shown in its original 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. Given it is a comedy, colors tend to be bright and cheerful throughout however detail was a tad soft at times and it\u2019s not the most striking looking HD transfer, though more than satisfactory. There were no major instances of artifacts or aliasing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

On a similar note, the 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track isn\u2019t anything terribly special. Sure, dialogue levels were rather clean and there wasn\u2019t anything wrong, but due to the genre, there are limitations to the lossless track. When the music and score does come on, there is at least some decent depth but even so, it is limited.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2<\/em><\/strong> wasn\u2019t a necessary sequel, at least 14 years after the original, but there were some amusing moments and although I never laughed out loud, I never found myself bored and I suspect fans, and those with large, tight-knit, families will appreciate it far more. The Blu-ray released through Universal has a couple so-so features while the video\/audio transfers are rather basic.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
