Written and directed by John Byrum (writer\/producer of 2000\u2019s Duets<\/em>), Inserts<\/em><\/strong> is a rarely seen cult favorite, the tale of a once-successful silent film director (RICHARD DREYFUSS) reduced in the sound era to making porn films in the decrepit mansion he refuses to leave. Trouble arrives in the form of a bootlegger-turned-mogul (BOB HOSKINS) and his desperately ambitious actress girlfriend (JESSICA HARPER).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Twilight Time releases Inserts<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. It\u2019s pretty much on par with other older TT releases where colors are fairly vibrant with a splattering of dust marks though nothing overly distracting. For such an unusual release, the print provided by Fox is well done and the few fans will be more than satisfied as I doubt it has ever looked better.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc\u2019s DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track is perfectly serviceable especially for a film that is almost entirely dialogue driven, in which case it\u2019s pretty clear throughout. It\u2019s nothing special yet gets the job done well enough.<\/p>\n

Also available is an isolated music and effects track.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Inserts<\/em><\/strong> is an oddball of a film with Richard Dreyfuss turning in a typical Dreyfuss type of performance from the 1970s. The character drama-centric story works well enough and the inclusion of Bob Hoskins as the main antagonist is always a plus. The Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers good video\/audio transfers but lacks any meaningful bonus material.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
