Being born in 1980, there was no better time to grow up with some great, sometimes cheesy, television entertainment from \u201cQuantum Leap\u201d to \u201cAlf\u201d to \u201cMagnum P.I.\u201d. Two other shows, though I only checked them out when I was older in the \u201890s, were \u201cKnight Rider\u201d and \u201cMiami Vice\u201d, both offered thrilling episodes though \u201cVice\u201d was certainly darker in tone while \u201cRider\u201d was generally basic yet fun leisure, as such it\u2019s probably my favorite of the two though the other offered better writing and performances…<\/p>\n

\u201cKnight Rider\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The series follows the thrilling adventures of Michael Knight (DAVID HASSELHOFF), a detective thought to be dead, who\u2019s been given a new face and identity. His assignment: to fight crime with the help of an artificially intelligent, talking car named K.I.T.T., a high-speed, futuristic weapon outfitted with high-tech gadgets and a personality of its own. Driven by justice, they set out to take down criminals who operate above the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cMiami Vice\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cops. The cars. The clothes. Set against the seamy and steamy Miami underworld, suave cops Sonny Crockett (DON JOHNSON) and Ricardo Tubbs (PHILIP MICHAEL THOMAS) battle a never-ending gallery of criminals, drug dealers, and lowlifes. Set to an electrifying soundtrack of rock legends, every episode crackles with excitement and stylish flair.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Each of these sets, 4-discs apiece, are contained in a standard DVD case and stacked. No surprise, they are bare bones releases.<\/p>\n

Missing on the \u201cKnight Rider\u201d<\/strong> releases is a commentary with Hasselhoff and Glen Larson as well as a few featurettes. There are other featurettes that were on the \u201cMiami Vice\u201d<\/strong> season one original release.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Both \u201cKnight Rider\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cMiami Vice\u201d<\/strong> are presented in their originally televised 1.33 ful frame aspect ratio and they show their age (going on 30+ years). Colors are a tad bland and there is some instances of artifacting.<\/p>\n

\u201cKnight Rider\u201d: Seasons 1 & 2<\/strong> come with a standard Dolby Digital Surround track while \u201cMiami Vice\u201d<\/strong> is slightly better, Dolby Digital 5.1 which is nice to highlight the quintessential 1980s music while dialogue levels, on both shows, are decently clean.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
