Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Joe Blake (BRUCE WILLIS) and Terry Collins (BILLY BOB THORNTON) are two escaped convicts on the lam planning to rob a few banks to fund a new life just south of the border. Kate Wheeler (CATE BLANCHETT) is a woman also on the run… from an unhappy marriage. Fate intervenes when Kate runs into Terry (quite literally) with her car. She soon finds herself joining the boys on their cross-country trek.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: Bandits<\/em><\/strong> is an uneven crime-comedy fueled by three terrific performances from Willis, Thornton and Blanchett. The script could\u2019ve used a polish or two but there\u2019s just enough there to find oneself entertaining for the two hour duration. Also, the final scene, albeit obvious even on first viewing, is a lot of fun, just wish the rest of the movie was as clever, though the comedy bits do strike the right tone.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Olive Films releases Bandits<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray shown in its original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. As catalog title releases go, this doesn\u2019t look half bad, however I did notice some minor amounts of dust marks and the detail is only so-so. But colors do look decently bright such as Blanchett\u2019s introductory scene (the blue fridge bulb).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with an effective if not basic DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track. It\u2019s serviceable enough with clear dialogue levels throughout and any action scenes, though there are only a few, comes through well enough. It\u2019s nothing that I\u2019d call amazing or even noteworthy, but for the genre it does sound good.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Bandits<\/em><\/strong> probably could\u2019ve been better with a tighter script but the performances from the core cast, Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett, are all fantastic that it makes the film as a whole fairly entertaining. The Blu-ray released by Olive is basic with only a trailer while the video and audio transfers are both average.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
