Director Hal Ashby\u2019s meticulously detailed bio-pic of the politically engaged singer-songwriter Woody Guthrie (DAVID CARRADINE) recreates the American Great Depression while also giving us a portrait of a flawed genius in tune with his difficult times.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Bound for Glory<\/em><\/strong> takes stage onto Blu-ray presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a decent enough 1080p high-definition transfer. This isn\u2019t what I would call a great looking movie to begin with as it\u2019s really void of a lot of color but this transfer has its flaws, primarily the numerous instances of dust marks and film damage. Understandably, Fox or whomever didn\u2019t want to spend a whole lot of money doing repairs but some parts are more glaring than others. Even so, I can\u2019t say it\u2019s bad as detail OK and no doubt it does look better than anything that came before.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track is more or less satisfactory though dialogue levels do tend to be soft. However, this lossless track does come to life with the music, as well as the score, central to the theme of the movie and the main character of Guthrie. I doubt this will be overly impressive but acceptable enough.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Bound for Glory<\/em><\/strong> isn\u2019t a fantastic movie and it is a bit long in the tooth at nearly two and a half hours but Guthrie as a person and his journey was interesting combined with an amazing performance from the always charismatic David Carradine does make for a worthwhile viewing. The Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers decent video and audio transfers but unfortunately lacks any meaningful in special features.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
