After rescuing his kidnapped niece (MADISON LAWLOR) from a powerful drug cartel, Dolton MacReady (SCOTT ADKINS) begins a relentless fight to save his family. The cartel has descended upon his secluded ranch with a thirst for revenge. Close Range<\/em><\/strong> kicks and knifes its way onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture isn\u2019t anything amazing but detail is OK while colors tend to be more on the drab side than vibrant, though that\u2019s in keeping with its more Western style. The transfer also appears to be clean, free of artifacting and aliasing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

For an action-centric flick, I found the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track a bit weak. Dialogue generally sounds fine but like everything else, it seems the mix was rather quiet. This is not a dynamic track but it probably has more due to the limited budget rather than the transfer itself.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Close Range<\/em><\/strong> isn\u2019t good however, I will say at least the fight choreography wasn\u2019t half bad but the acting has much to be desired and the screenplay doesn\u2019t fare much better. But for fans of Adkins and kind of old school, 1990s-esque films, it might be worth a rental or cheap pick-up. The Blu-ray only has a trailer and the video and audio transfers are average.<\/p>\n
