PLOT SYNOPSIS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Mad Dog Time<\/em><\/strong> follows mob boss Vic (RICHARD DREYFUSS), recently released from a psychiatric hospital, who returns to find both his confidants and enemies vying to seize control of his empire.<\/p>\n

With Vic\u2019s friend and top enforcer Mickey Holliday (JEFF GOLDBLUM) by his side what could go wrong? Plenty. Add to the mix a romantic roundelay involving Mickey and Vic\u2019s ex-girlfriend, Grace (DIANE LANE) and her sister, Rita (ELLEN BARKIN) and the stage is set for excitement in a film chock full of mob film tropes, star cameos and black humor.<\/p>\n

Olive Films releases Mad Dog Time<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. On the one hand, the picture quality isn\u2019t half bad yet there\u2019s an overabundant amount of film grain that it softens the detail in certain scenes; it\u2019s especially noticeable in darkly lit shots. Colors tend of the finely balanced, however and considering the source, this probably is the best this film ever looked.

AUDIO \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track comes off a tad better providing nice depth with the classic rat-pack era music, including the opening song by Frank Sinatra, and dialogue levels sounded clear enough. The track has its limitations but still manages to hold up rather well.<\/p>\n

Overall, Mad Dog Time<\/em><\/strong> is an odd-ball of a movie, a throwback to the days of the Rat Pac era, it was written and directed by Joey Bishop\u2019s son, and although plenty of the dark humor didn\u2019t quite work, it\u2019s not an altogether terrible flick, though nothing I\u2019d watch again in spite of a respectable cast. The Blu-ray released by Olive is basic and unfortunately only has a theatrical trailer as the solo bonus feature.<\/p>\n
