Plot Synopsis:
\n<\/strong>Harry and Dolly Tucker (J.T. WALSH and LEE GARLINGTON), out for an evening at a party hosted by Bill and Bernice Holston (GEORGE SEGAL and LOIS CHILES), hire high school student Jennifer (ALICIA SILVERSTONE) to babysit their two children. Jennifer will find herself the recipient of unwanted advances from her estranged boyfriend Jack (JEREMY LONDON), a manipulative and threatening acquaintance, Mark (NICKY KATT) and \u2013 in the case of a very drunken Harry \u2013 the object of erotic fantasies.<\/p>\n

What begins as a quiet evening of babysitting escalates into a series of emotional confrontations, physical altercations and a life-threatening event.<\/p>\n

\nThe Babysitter<\/em><\/strong> might\u2019ve wanted to be a trashy, tawdry erotic thriller and indeed it was the type of movie that would air late at night on Cinemax but what we get instead is a boring film with bad dialogue combined with perhaps even worse performances by actors like J.T. Walsh, George Segal and Lee Garlington who normally aren\u2019t too bad though they are playing some of the most obnoxious characters; one has to think they weren\u2019t exactly proud appearing in this and hopefully they used the money for a car payment or something…<\/p>\n

Olive Films stalks The Babysitter<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. This isn\u2019t a pretty looking video no doubt due to its limited budget where the noise is heavy and detail is at times soft while colors tend to be good though in some instances it looks washed out. That being said, I doubt this has ever looked better though not sure that\u2019s saying a whole lot…

The movie comes with a 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track which actually isn\u2019t half bad providing for crisp can clear dialogue levels throughout and a little depth with the generic score\/soundtrack. Ambient noises though are very limited so it\u2019s nothing dynamic but certainly average for a lossless track.<\/p>\n

The Blu-ray released by Olive Films is very basic with no features and average video and audio transfers.<\/p>\n
