C.S. Lewis (ANTHONY HOPKINS) is a world-renowned writer and professor. Unmarried, he leads a gentleman’s life filled by intellectual pursuits, remaining untouched by any great passion until he meets Joy Gresham (DEBRA WINGER). Joy is a feisty, abrasive New York divorcée whose sharp-edged, no-nonsense attitude takes Lewis by surprise. Bursting unexpectedly into Lewis’ world, Joy shocks his associates and awakens him to deep emotions he has written about, but never experienced. Slowly he opens his heart to this woman, and their romance shatters the walls of his cloistered world. But life is made up of delicate balances, and Lewis must confront a terrible truth: that a heart awakened to great love is also opened to great pain.

This release comes with a retro VHS style slip cover. No features were included.

VIDEO – 4/5, AUDIO – 4/5

Shadowlands comes to Blu-ray through Mill Creek Entertainment and is presented with a 16×9 enhanced 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition. Given this movie already got a Blu-ray release from Universal in 2019, presumably this is the same transfer but given I don’t own it, I can’t make any comparisons. In any case, from what I saw this was a fine looking picture, detail was decent enough and colors well balanced though geared more toward natural elements.

The disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. Dialogue comes across with good clarity and depth is okay but nothing extraordinary. This is certainly a serviceable lossless track and as with the video, this probably is the same as the 2019 release.
