The Flag of Iron arrives on Blu-ray from 88 Films where it’s shown in the original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio. The movie has been given a new 1080p high-definition transfer, remastered from the original 35mm camera negative. This is a movie that likely didn’t look so great in any DVD release so in all probability this is an improvement, although this generally was a tad soft in some spots while colors are a bit muted but still nicely balanced. The movie comes with both an English dubbed and Japanese language PCM 1.0 track. There is some noticeable hissing during some scenes but my mono track standards, it’s satisfying enough especially for a movie released nearly 40 years ago. |
