PLOT SYNOPSIS

The wealthy Mr. Earnshaw (HARRY ANDREWS) adopts Heathcliff (TIMOTHY DALTON), a young street urchin he meets on a trip to the city, welcoming the boy into his stately rural mansion, Wuthering Heights. Though Earnshaw’s daughter Catherine (ANNA CLADER-MARSHALL) initially treats Heathcliff with disgust, the two eventually fall in love. But when Catherine’s hateful brother Hindley (JULIAN GLOVER) returns home in the wake of his father’s sudden death, it threatens to tear the young lovers apart.

VIDEO – 3.0/5, AUDIO – 3.0/5

The Wuthering Heights comes to Blu-ray through Twilight Time presented with a 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. This isn’t a great picture but does look decent at times. Detail is sadly a bit soft in some spots, especially distant shots, while colors are more muted and I did notice some film damage, but nothing distracting. The DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track is satisfactory but unremarkable though dialogue levels are fairly clear and clean.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Overall, The Wuthering Heights is one of many Emily Bronte adaptations and this one is finely acted by Timothy Dalton and Anna Calder-Marshall. The Blu-ray release is basic with so-so video and audio transfers while the features are light.
