PLOT SYNOPSIS

Sol Glass’s (FERDINAND GOTTSCHALK) department store is struggling in the Depression, so he decides to have the store’s stenographers become customer girls – women paid to entertain important clients and close deals. One such stenographer, Florence Denny (LORETTA YOUNG), is forbidden from acting as a customer girl by her fiancé, Tommy (REGIS TOOMEY), until he realizes they both need the extra cash for their marriage. The money is good, but Florence’s new job complicates their relationship.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

VIDEO – 2.75/5, AUDIO – 3.0/5

Warner Archive Collection releases She Had to Say Yes onto DVD-R presented with a 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and a standard Dolby Digital Mono track, which is fine but certainly shows its age, as does the video which is littered with scratches, dust marks and more.

OVERALL – 2.0/5

Overall, She Had to Say Yes is a charming if not ultimately forgettable romance-drama that does feature a nice performance from Loretta Young. The DVD release by Warner’s Archive Collection is hardly great with any bonus material and flawed video/audio transfers, but I guess that’s offset in getting this movie released to the home video market.
