Reign was never a show I could get into. As I mentioned previously, it is a glossy, CW-ized version of Game of Thrones (so basically no foul language, lewd sex scenes or graphic violence) but amongst the ‘tween crowd, they might eat up the cast and storylines.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Season four finds Queen Mary (ADELAIDE KANE) rising to the challenge, taking back her country and establishing her rule in Scotland. The land of Mary’s birth has become a wild and foreign nation, boasting a new court with new players, including her half-brother, James (DAN JEANNOTTE), and new suitors. The French court has changed tanks too, with Catherine’s (MEGAN FOLLOWS) high-strung brood constantly at each other’s throats. While the pageantry of an ambitious wedding and a royal birth distracts from passionate exploits and a rising body count behi9nd castle walls, England’s Queen Elizabeth (RACHEL SKARSTEN) seeks to topple Mary’s throne. As the regal rulers make strategic choices and brutal sacrifices, their fates become increasingly entwined.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

This 3-disc set is housed in a standard DVD case. No features were included.

VIDEO – 4.25/5, AUDIO – 3.75/5

Reign takes the throne on DVD presented with a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer and features some nice colors and decent detail. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is solid enough with good dialogue throughout and the music makes use of all 5 channels but it’s nothing extraordinary.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

Overall, Reign was never a show I could get into. As I mentioned previously, it is a glossy, CW-ized version of Game of Thrones (so basically no foul language, lewd sex scenes or graphic violence) but amongst the ‘tween crowd, they might eat up the cast and storylines.
