PLOT SYNOPSIS

Rural England, 1865. Katherine (FLORENCE PUGH) is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man (PAUL HILTON) twice her age, whose family is cold and unforgiving. When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker (COSMO JARVIS) on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her, so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5

This release comes with a matted slip cover. Not much in terms of features, but there is a Behind the Scenes featurette and a Photo Gallery.

VIDEO – 4.5/5, AUDIO – 4.0/5

Lionsgate releases Lady Macbeth onto DVD presented with an anamorphic widescreen 2.35 aspect ratio which actually looks quite good showcasing the rich production and costume designs. The Dolby Digital 5.1 track meanwhile sounds fine but being mostly a dialogue driven movie, the bulk of the audio comes through the center channel with ambient noises and the score making usage of the front and rear speakers.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Overall, Lady Macbeth is a lavish and well acted, headlined by Florence Pugh who could be a talent on the rise, adaptation of the popular novel. The DVD release by Lionsgate is basic with great video and audio transfers but limited on the features front.
