Memories of the Sword is just your run-of-the-mill fantasy martial arts flick, the kind I’ve seen too many times. The lead actress isn’t bad but otherwise it’s a forgettable film. The Blu-ray released through Well Go USA offers good video and audio transfers, well adequate enough anyway, but falls far short in the bonus material department.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

As the greed and excess of a corrupt Monarchy threatens to destroy the once-glorious Goryeo Dynasty, three legendary warriors lead a revolt to overthrow the empire and save its people. But when deceit and betrayal costs the life of a master swordsman, a plot for justice and revenge is set into motion, raging for decades between the two survivors.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

This release comes with a title-embossed slip cover. The only feature included is the Trailer.

VIDEO – 3.75/5

Memories of the Sword jumps onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. The video might not be overly impressive but it does have some nice colors in keeping with the more fantasy/mystical tone while details are decent enough. I didn’t notice any major instances of artifacts and it appears to be clean, free of dust marks and scratches.

AUDIO – 3.5/5

The movie comes with Korean language DTS-HD Master Audio track with English subtitles. The audio isn’t anything extraordinary yet it is perfectly adequate providing for clean dialogue levels and the more action-oriented scenes do make some usage of the front and rear channels, but it is minimal and not entirely dynamic and lacks some depth.

OVERALL – 2.0/5

Overall, Memories of the Sword is just your run-of-the-mill fantasy martial arts flick, the kind I’ve seen too many times. The lead actress isn’t bad but otherwise it’s a forgettable film. The Blu-ray released through Well Go USA offers good video and audio transfers, well adequate enough anyway, but falls far short in the bonus material department.
