Kings Go Forth is a well intentioned but ultimately ineffective war-romance-drama though the three leads – Sinatra, Curtis and Wood – all turn in fine performances. The Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers good video and audio transfers but disappoints in the features department.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

A pair of American soldiers (FRANK SINATRA, TONY CURTIS) in World War II France both falls in love with the same woman (NATALIE WOOD), an American-born expatriate with a difficult secret. Even as they are trying to help bring the war to an end, both are doing battle with the difficulties of their mutual relationship.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

This release comes with a 6-page essay booklet. The only feature included is the Theatrical Trailer.

VIDEO – 4.5/5

Screen Archives releases Kings Go Forth onto Blu-ray shown in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a well done 1080p high-definition transfer. The film looks pretty damn good with stark black and white which shows no major signs of artifacts and aliasing and while there were some scratch marks, it’s nothing overabundant or distracting.

AUDIO – 3.75/5

The disc comes with an adequate but still effective DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track which has crisp and clear dialogue levels throughout and when we do get some war action sequences, the track still is quite efficient and has some decent range even being relegated to one channel.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, Kings Go Forth is a well intentioned but ultimately ineffective war-romance-drama though the three leads – Sinatra, Curtis and Wood – all turn in fine performances. The Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers good video and audio transfers but disappoints in the features department.
