Hidden is an effective, if not low key, independent drama thriller with some solid psychological underpinnings and solid performances by Alexander Skarsgård and Andrea Riseborough. It’s not an entirely memorable flick and probably will one day air on SyFy. Unfortunately there’s not much to this release with no features, OK video/audio transfers and not even a scene access menu…

PLOT SYNOPSIS

When the world descends into darkness, stay hidden.

301 days have passed since Ray (ALEXANDER SKARSGARD), Claire (ANDREA RISEBOROUGH), and their daughter Zoe (EMILY ALYN LIND) found refuge underground. With nothing to distract them from their own fear, they hold onto hope for a normal family life above the surface someday. What looms above the cement prison they call home? The one thing they know for certain is that there is something terrifying and strange that threatens their fragile existence, and it is coming for them.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

No features were included. Heck, there isn’t a scene access sub-menu.

VIDEO – 3.75/5 | AUDIO – 3.5/5

Hidden comes to DVD from Warner Home Video presented with a 2.40 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and although the bulk of the movie takes place in the dark, it’s not a bad looking transfer, though it’s also nothing noteworthy.

The movie comes with a standard but effective enough Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Also included is a Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 track and English, French and Spanish subtitles.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, Hidden is an effective, if not low key, independent drama thriller with some solid psychological underpinnings and solid performances by Alexander Skarsgård and Andrea Riseborough. It’s not an entirely memorable flick and probably will one day air on SyFy. Unfortunately there’s not much to this release with no features, OK video/audio transfers and not even a scene access menu…
