“Jane the Virgin”: The Complete First Season is a fun little show with some good humor yet with a nice and genuine heart at its core. Series star Gina Rodriguez has magnetism and was deserving of her Golden Globe win. The series itself is well worth a watch with its compelling storylines and entertaining supporting cast.

THE SEASON

Synopsis (from back cover): When Jane (GINA RODRIGUEZ) was a little girl, she vowed to remain a virgin until her wedding day. Now that Jane is 23, her fiancé, Michael (BRETT DIER), is on board with the plan and their lives are on track. But a mix-up during a routine medical exam gives birth to a series of miraculous mishaps. Now Jane is pregnant; the baby’s father is her former crush and current boss, Rafael (JUSTIN BALDONI); and Jane’s own father (JAIME CAMIL), whom she’s never met, is the leading man in her favorite telenovela. It’s as though her life is a soap opera and Jane is the star.
