Camp Dread is one bad horror film, amongst so many others that have come and gone; a movie that the likes of Eric Roberts or Danielle Harris couldn’t save. The DVD released by RLJ Entertainment is pretty minimal with OK video and audio transfers and nary a featurette to be found, though to be honest, that might be a good thing…

PLOT SUMMARY
The “Summer Camp” horror trilogy was one of the most popular movie franchises of the 1980s. However, the decade ended and so did director Julian Barrett’s (ERIC ROBERTS) career. Now Barrett plans to resurrect his gory series via a modern reboot patterned after reality filmmaking. With his former leading lady and an eclectic group of 10 young “contestants,” Barrett returns to the same locale where his old splatter-fests were filmed. When one of the campers is found savagely murdered, they discover there’s more at stake than just fame and fortune. Each of them is in a fight for their lives as they realize summer is over – forever.

Camp Dread arrives to town on DVD presented with a 16×9 enhanced transfer and for the most part, the picture looks relatively clean with only minor bouts of artifacting which seems to standard for a limited budgeted flick.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is effective from regular dialogue levels to the blood-curdling screams once the killing spree begins.
