The “I <3 iCarly Collection” isn’t anything special as it just contains the previously released DVDs of “iFight Shelby Marx”, “iSaved Your Life” and “iSpace Out”. The features are the same, the audio and video is the same so unless you don’t already own these, in which case you can get them at a decent price (though I still recommend the season volume sets), then you can pass this on by.

THE MOVIE – 3.75/5

This “collection” contains the three previous individual releases. I’m not going to go into a whole lot of detail but will reproduce my thoughts on the show itself and then breakdown what’s on each disc.

I accidently discovered “iCarly” while channel surfing and with nothing else to do, decided to give it a try since I think basically missed out on watching the thinly plotted kids/tween shows at a younger age. To my surprise, it’s not half bad with some truly funny, albeit obvious, scenes and situations. What I also enjoyed was it never takes itself too seriously tackling such issues as “Will Carly have to move?”, “Will Spencer be able to clean up the mess before so and so happens?”, etc. This is probably the antithesis of “Degrassi” and quite frankly, I’m happy both shows exist showcasing both ends of the spectrum of tween entertainment.

Personally, I kind of like the innocent nature of the show. No, it’s not a great tween show like the aforementioned “Degrassi”, not by a mile, but it is a show I can click on and just watch without a) having to know anything about previous stories and b) can turn off my brain and have some fun, even with some of the ridiculous moments, most of which involve Carly’s older brother (JERRY TRAINOR).

Obviously if you can’t stand any of these Nickelodeon/Disney tween series, then “iCarly” will no doubt annoy you but for me I enjoyed it a lot and will probably catch more of it in the future if I find it on the grid.

iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx (2009) (139 minutes)

Watch as Carly (MIRANDA COSGROVE) steps up to an exhibition match, scores an interview with one of the best fighters in mixed martial arts, dates a new hottie, and gives props to some of the most awesome user-generated videos ever seen on iCarly.com!

Episodes include: “iFight Shelby Marx”, “iLook Alike”, “iDate a Bad Boy” and “iCarly Awards”.

iCarly: iSaved Your Life (2010) (149 minutes)

He’s sweet, polite and… okay, definitely too gullible at times, but Freddie Benson (NATHAN KRESS) keeps things running smoothly on iCarly. Always the center of Sam’s (JENNETTE MCURDY) constant ridicule, and the son of a completely overbearing mom, this loveable boy-next-door catches a lucky break! Freddie’s dreams come true when he saves Carly’s life, and she falls in love with him!

Episodes: “iSaved Your Life” (Extended Director’s Cut), “iQuit iCarly”, “iThink They Kissed”, “iTwins” and “iMove Out”.

iCarly: iSpace Out (2010) (145 minutes)

Carly and the crew venture to a training facility to test their space survival abilities. Can they hack being locked in a space pod for 36 hours? On top of the space madness, the iCarly insanity continues as Sam reveals a shocking secret, Gibby threatens to fight Freddie, the friends try to find Bigfoot, and so much more!

Episodes: “iSpace Out”, “iWas a Pageant Girl”, “iEnrage Gibby”, “iFix a Pop Star”, “iWon’t Cancel the Show” and “iBelieve in Bigfoot”.

All told, there are 15 episodes included in this set though they’re all available in the season two volume sets as well.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx – 1.0/5

The only thing on this disc is a Meet Lewbert (1:44) featurette, another one on the Message Board (2:38) and the Pilot Episode of “Big Time Rush” (47:57).

iCarly: iSaved Your Life – 0.5/5

The DVD has four very short (6:52 total) and mundane featurettes: Welcome to My Boat (1:59), Window Stunt (1:36), Birthday (1:48) and Meet Chuck (1:29). Don’t even bother with these…

iCarly: iSpace Out – 0.5/5

The disc only contains a Trivia pop-up that plays with ‘iSpace Out’, a Bonus Episode of “Victorious” (23:41) and a Digital Copy download code for all the episodes.

VIDEO – 3.5/5

Each episode, save for ‘iFight Shelby Marx’ and ‘iQuit iCarly’, is presented in Full Frame 1.33 aspect ratio. I still don’t understand why if the show airs on Nick HD in 16×9 widescreen, that couldn’t have been transferred to these DVDs.

AUDIO – 3.0/5

The Dolby Stereo soundtrack is suitable especially since this is a dialogue heavy show with the occasional sound effects.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

The “I <3 iCarly Collection” isn’t anything special as it just contains the previously released DVDs of “iFight Shelby Marx”, “iSaved Your Life” and “iSpace Out”. The features are the same, the audio and video is the same so unless you don’t already own these, in which case you can get them at a decent price (though I still recommend the season volume sets), then you can pass this on by.
