Chain of Command is the latest of a long string of direct-to-video action flicks with bad acting, terrible dialogue and a poor plot. The only good thing I guess I can say the newcomer, who has no other titles to her credit, Ashleigh Barnett isn’t bad, so that’s something?

Maximum Conviction doesn’t stray beyond a typical direct-to-video release from a stitched together plot, wooden acting and bad dialogue, but with the charms (i.e. ass-kicker-y) that come with Steven Seagal and Steve Austin, it’s at least worth a rental especially if you’re fan of either individual.

The Expendables: Extended Director’s Cut isn’t great but still a functional action-thriller bringing together manly men on the same screen together. On that front, the film succeeds and is at least a fun way to spend 110-minutes. The Blu-ray has solid audio and video transfers while the features are pretty good, though the best one was ported over from the previous release.
