This is a case of quantity over quality here, though there are a couple of decent films like Vacancy and I Know What You Did Last Summer (if you like late 90s slasher horror) but otherwise these are movies previously released by Mill Creek re-packaged together.

When the Bough Breaks is a laughably bad and overly clichéd thriller with a story that has been done numerous times, especially on the Lifetime Movie Channel and if not for Morris Chestnut who tried so hard to rise above the awful screenplay, this would be an absolute chore to sit through, and even so, it was still rough sledding.

These three sets are more bargain releases for Mill Creek Entertainment with titles previously on DVD and in some cases Blu-ray so unless you don’t already own these, it might be worth picking up at $10 a pop, though don’t expect any frills and the video and audio transfers are so-so at best.

The Call isn’t an unpredictable suspense-thriller but thanks to the performances by Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin, and some slick direction by Brad Anderson, it’s an entertaining and captivating thriller from beginning to end even if the finale felt out of place. The Blu-ray has a fair amount of features and the audio/video transfers are both on solid ground.

“V” The Complete First Season has plenty of promise and while it’s not quite even from the beginning of the season to the end, I do think it has the potential to be great. At the same time, I am intrigued to see how they can keep the series fresh if it even gets beyond the upcoming second season. The Blu-ray itself has a decent selection of features and the video/audio both are good enough, but nothing amazing.
