Without Warning is a low-budget and sometimes laughable sci-fi/horror but seeing Jack Palance and Martin Landau was fun and it at least kept my attention until the end. The Blu-ray released by Shout Factory has OK audio and video transfers but the features are mostly well done, though it is a shame they couldn’t wrangle Martin Landau to do a new interview.

Crimes and Misdemeanors might very well be one of Woody Allen’s best films and apparently Allen himself liked it so much he more or less remade it as Match Point decades later (for the record, I also loved MP). It’s a film filled with brilliant performances and two storylines on diverging paths and perfect, if not unsatisfactory for some, conclusions for both.

Anna Nicole is the typical Lifetime Channel tripe with subpar acting, even from actors who tend not to be half-bad, and screenplays seemingly written by interns. The gravest sin going against this movie is that you really don’t learn a whole lot about her past and instead we get most of the items we saw in the news.

Cleopatra remains an epic classic today in every fashion both in front of and, oft because of, behind the camera. Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison are magnificent in their respective roles and the spectacle that are the production and costume designs are incredible. The Blu-ray offered here has a good number of features but the stars are the video and audio transfer which are both great.

Frankweenie didn’t do much for me both on an emotional level or general entertainment. The voice talents are fine but the story was too stretched out and got a bit tedious towards the end. That being said, if you’re a fan of Burton’s previous works or love stop-motion, there are worse ways to spend 90-minutes and a rental fee. The Blu-ray combo set offers up gorgeous video and audio transfers but the features are much to be desired.
