Snow Falling on Cedars is a poignant, somber little drama-mystery, with great cinematography, that for one reason or another has kind of been forgotten.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a misfire of a sequel and even though I wasn’t a big fan of the first movie, there were some fun moments, this one at times just felt like a rehash of The Lost World: Jurassic Park but at the very least the ending could lead to an interesting finale.

The Jack Ryan Collection is a solid release from Paramount for what I consider a nice franchise, however there never was one that stoodout, each being fine filmmaking and storytelling and nice performances from the respective actors.

50 Years of Star Trek isn’t a bad documentary but by the same token, nothing overly special outside of that it features the final interview with the late Leonard Nimoy and perhaps that alone is worth the price admission.

Romeo is Bleeding is certainly a unique movie though also kind of typical Gary Oldman from the 1990s turning in a bizarrely fascinating performance as does Lena Olin who manages to keep up with his insanity, and at times topping it. It’s not perfect but with Oldman and Olin, well worth checking out.

The first movie was a fun guilty pleasure. Species II is just plain guilty of being a bad film all around. The writing is poor and the acting was at best phoned-in, though Natasha Henstridge at least seemed to give it her all and she might be the only reason it’s even watchable.

“American Horror Story: Asylum”: The Complete Second Season is another triumph for FX and although on the whole I liked the first season better, this one has a lot to offer including some excellent performances headlined by Zachary Quinto and Jessica Lange amongst others. The Blu-ray released by Fox has solid audio/video transfers while the bonus material is OK, but lacking.
