Planes: Fire & Rescue is a perfectly safe animated movie that children under the age of 12 might enjoy but anyone older, especially adults, might find it to be on the dull side. Still, at least the animation is good and I did enjoy some of the voice acting, but it’s hardly enough to get over a subpar script/plot.
The Fog is another classic thriller from John Carpenter featuring good scares without getting gratuitous with the horror (in fact, there is no blood) and a respectable cast. The Blu-ray released by Shout Factory is top notch with excellent audio/video transfers and a wealth of bonus features with the only setback being a comprehensive ‘making-of’ featurette.
Lincoln is bolstered by strong performances especially from Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones and although I appreciate Spielberg limiting such an interesting character, and President, to two aspects of his time in the White House, for whatever reason the story lacked an emotional punch. However, in spite of that, this is still a very well made historical drama and well worth checking out as you do get a better glimpse of the man beyond the legend he has become today.
