Ingrid Goes West is a well made movie that tackles the darker side of social media, with comedic bite, and the obsession that can take over one’s life as was the case for Ingrid played by Aubrey Plaza turning in a great performance.
Thanks to fantastic performances from the entire crew, Elizabeth Olsen in particular is incredible, and a limited theatrical run, Liberal Arts is one of the best hidden gems of 2012 and is worth at least a rental. The Blu-ray has good video/audio transfers but the features are on the disappointing side with a short EPK featurette, though the commentary is good.
Silent House is yet another film that spoiled its potential. Despite some suspense-filled scenes and an interesting idea of portraying it as one shot, the finale was just dumb and when looking back at the movie as a whole, it doesn’t make sense. Elizabeth Olsen for her part was good and the first 65-minutes or so were great, but the ending spoiled it all.
