This Toy Story 2 3D Blu-ray set is something else. A fantastic movie with incredible audio and very good 3D video presentations (not to mention excellent 2D video) yet the special features hold it back from becoming one of the best Blu-rays released on the whole. If, however, features are not your thing, then this is a no-brainer and even so, it’s still a must-have for anyone’s high-def collection.

If for some reason you haven’t seen Toy Story or you haven’t seen it in years, there’s no better time to see it again, now in Blu-ray high-def with some decent extras to keep you occupied, plus both the audio and video are top notch and well worth the upgrade. With regards to the 3D Blu-ray, it was surprising to see something that was post converted to 3D looked so good.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Disney forced the bulk of the features onto BD-Live, capping them at 480p in nasty letterbox, The Lion King would be nearly a perfect release. But ignoring that, you still have some amazing picture and audio quality along with one of the best animated films to every come out with a Disney logo slapped on it.

Written and Directed by Brad Bird, The Incredibles is one of Pixar’s jewels. It’s one fun film for the entire family with pitch perfect voice casting and a thrilling adventure story that rivals any live action film. The Blu-ray itself has some time-consuming special features and top of the line video and excellent audio that is great to show off your home theater system.

Tangled is a great and perhaps slightly underrated film that shows that Disney is more than just Pixar and that their in-house studio can still produce quality work with interesting stories and humor that relates to both kids and adults alike. The Blu-ray meanwhile has excellent video and audio transfers while the features left much to be desired.

Check out the review for Disney’s latest addition to their “Diamond Edition” line with the animated classic, Bambi. How does the audio and video transfers measure up? Are the features worth the upgrade over that old DVD copy? Will a grown man cry during that crucial scene?

Admittedly I am not a fan of either Fantasia or Fantasia 2000 but I can still appreciate what they were trying to do and the experiment Walt Disney himself was trying to accomplish. It might have failed back in 1940 but the film has its devoted followers and while I may not be one of them, this is still a set well worth picking up. Personally, I loved the Destino animated short which, as far as I can tell, is the first time it has been available on home video.

Unlike the 3D presentation, I found the 2D to be very fulfilling. The film though still does not entertain me much, and I don’t see myself ever wanting to re-watch it again. But for fans of the classic tale, or parents willing to sit through this with their little ones, sure, give it a shot. Just don’t be upset if you find yourself holding the same opinion I have.

Toy Story 3 is a heartwarming, bittersweet and funny film that both kids and adults will absolutely love – and I would argue that the adults may find a more emotional impact especially if you were a child when the first film was released.
