Blue Bloods: The Tenth Season, starring Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes, arrives on DVD August 18th through CBS Paramount and includes two featurettes and deleted scenes.
John Wick is one of the surprise hits of 2014 and even though Keanu Reeves might not be a great actor, this role was tailor made for his skill sets in fighting and stunt work. Add to that, the story, albeit thin, is good enough to carry the 100-minute running time. The Blu-ray released by Lionsgate has great video/audio transfers and OK selection of bonus material.
Small Time is an easygoing but still well made drama-comedy with great performances all around, but in particular Christopher Meloni, in his post-“Law & Order: SVU” career and Dean Norris of “Breaking Bad” fame having a good time. The Blu-ray released by Anchor Bay has good video and audio transfers but with only a commentary, albeit a decent one, it’s not exactly an amazing release.
Serendipity stands out thanks in most part to its two stars. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale overcome a clichéd-filled script; to be fair it’s hard not to be clichéd in the romantic-comedy genre. The supporting cast with Jeremy Piven, Molly Shannon and Bridget Moynahan also help out in making this a memorable film that has stood the test of time (at least in the genre)
