The Space Between Us of course isn’t good and clearly aimed at the tween crowd; the plot isn’t as cool as it might sound and it’s utterly predictable, but if there’s any saving grace, it’s with the cast, namely Gary Oldman and Carla Gugino.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children may not be classic Tim Burton but it is one of his more entertaining outings of late which, with the exception of Frankenweenie, haven’t been great. This might not quite be a film for the entire family as there are darker elements but for older kids, they might dig some of the visuals and characters they might relate with on some level.
Ender’s Game is a perfectly entertaining yet safe sci-fi action/thriller. Asa Butterfield is splendid in his follow-up to his breakout role in Hugo. That said, the rest of the movie borders on mediocrity and only saved due to some impressive visual effects and a story that was compelling enough to keep one’s attention until the end. Is this a day 1 purchase? Not quite, but might be worth checking out via Rental or Digital Download.
