Corvette Summer is a fun coming-of-age film that probably not many remember or know about. Mark Hamill and Annie Potts certainly make an interesting and non-conventional pairing aiding well in the romantic aspect of the movie.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

A cherry Corvette Stingray. A gorgeous girl. And a summer in glittery Las Vegas. What more does a guy need for the wildest, weirdest, funniest, freakiest time of his life? Car-brained Kenny (MARK HAMILL) trails a Corvette that’s mysteriously boosted after his high-school shop class restores it to perfection. The trail leads to Fun Capital, USA, and a ditzy diversion (ANNIE POTTS) whose dream is to become… a hooker? This damsel in distress needs a white knight on a candy-apple, metal-flake, superior-mags, mercury-tubes steed – right, Kenny? Both are in for a summer they’ll never forget.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

The only feature is the film’s Theatrical Trailer (2:44).

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.75/5

Warner Brothers, through their Archive Collection line, releases Corvette Summer onto Blu-ray where it’s presented with an open matted 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and given a new 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture quality looks fairly good, detail is decent especially on close-up objects while colors appear bright and skin tones look natural. There were no obvious signs of artifacting, aliasing or other flaws.

The disc includes a basic but still good sounding DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track which provides clear dialogue through that center channel and even with the singular speaker, depth isn’t half bad such as during the driving scenes on the highway or on the streets.

OVERALL – 3.0/5

Corvette Summer is a fun coming-of-age film that probably not many remember or know about. Mark Hamill and Annie Potts certainly make an interesting and non-conventional pairing aiding well in the romantic aspect of the movie. The Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection has good video/audio transfers but only a trailer making up the features.
