Gloria is a well done even sweet crime-drama where you can see why Gena Rowlands earned her Best Actress Academy Award nomination and the young John Adames, in his one and only role, does a nice job.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

The story centers on the eponymous ganger’s moll (GENA ROWLANDS) who is forced to go on the run with a young boy, Phil (JOHN ADAMES), who may or may not have information that the Mob deems vital. Along the way, the initial antagonism between Gloria and the boy develops into grudging affection, and she discovers reserves of inner strength to complement her tough-gal persona.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0.5/5

This release comes with an 8-page essay booklet. The only features are two Theatrical Trailers.

VIDEO – 4.0/5, AUDIO – 3.5/5

Twilight Time releases Gloria onto Blu-ray where it is presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part, it is a fine looking picture; colors are more on the muted side in keeping with the 1980s gritty setting. It’s mostly clean, though I did notice some minor dust marks.

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track is decent with good dialogue levels and no discernible pops or hisses.

OVERALL – 3.5/5

Overall, Gloria is a well done even sweet crime-drama where you can see why Gena Rowlands earned her Best Actress Academy Award nomination and the young John Adames, in his one and only role, does a nice job. The release from Twilight Time has good video and audio transfers, just a shame there were no significant features.
