Like all NTSC DVDs, if one actually times them with a stopwatch in real-time they are longer than the player’s on-screen display; Blu-rays, on the other hand, always show this in real-time (the longer time is reflected). So both formats have the same duration in real-time but are reported differently because of timecode differences (see below), and both play film slightly slower than what one would see in a theater using a perfectly calibrated m projector if one existed.
