“Dynasty”: The Final Season concludes the popular Aaron Spelling produced soap opera and for throwaway entertainment, it’s not bad. The acting is alright and the stories are at least compelling, though this generally isn’t my cup of tea. As a side, kind of surprised they haven’t tried to remake it a la “Dallas”.

THE SEASON

“Dynasty”: The Final Season

Volume One

No other drama series approaches the spectacular power of Dynasty, from legendary producer Aaron Spelling. In the climatic final season, Blake (JOHN FORSYTHE) is moved to renew wedding vows for his beloved wife Krystle (LINDA EVANS) as she makes a brave last stand for life. Alexis (JOAN COLLINS) battles a surprising and savvy, new rival: her own first cousin. And a decades old murder mystery opens up uncharted realms of deadly secrets and shocking revelations, with devastating consequences for all.

Volume Two

Power. Wealth. Lust. Secrets. Corruption. Deceit. Revenge. It all hits an unprecedented new peak in the sensational, series-ending season for the hit series. John Forsythe, Joan Collins and Linda Evans lead the spectacular cast — as skeletons are discovered in the mansion walls, a priceless treasure is unearthed, and a longtime, unsolved killing pushes everything to a rural, fatal conclusion. In Dynasty’s last, legendary season, there’s no end to the riches to be experienced.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 0/5

In keeping with previous releases, no special features are included.

VIDEO – 3.0/5 | AUDIO – 2.75/5

“Dynasty”: The Final Season arrives on DVD presented in its original 1.33 full frame aspect ratio and like any show of this time, it’s not an amazing transfer but it’s more than acceptable with decent colors.

The audio is much the same, it’s only a mono Dolby Digital track which is serviceable providing for clear dialogue and even the dramatic score comes through well enough.

OVERALL – 2.5/5

Overall, “Dynasty”: The Final Season concludes the popular Aaron Spelling produced soap opera and for throwaway entertainment, it’s not bad. The acting is alright and the stories are at least compelling, though this generally isn’t my cup of tea. As a side, kind of surprised they haven’t tried to remake it a la “Dallas”. The two-pack, 6-disc set has OK audio and video but at a staggering MSRP, it’s not exactly value but I suppose if you’re a fan and already own the previous sets, this will finally complete it.
