To be perfectly honest, I’m not a fan of zombie shows or movies with few exceptions (“The Walking Dead”), so Dead Within wasn’t exactly my cup of tea yet the psychological aspects were at least interesting and co-writer/director Ben Wagner at least gives some suspenseful atmosphere.

PLOT SUMMARY

Six months after a deadly outbreak that has all but ended the human race, a man and woman (AMY CALE PETERSON, DEAN CHEKVALA) have survived by isolating themselves in a remote cabin and never opening the door. Now, starved for resources, they must confront the horrors that threaten them… but what’s inside may be even more deadly than what’s outside.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

This release comes with a semi-glossy slip cover.

Only feature included are some Deleted Scenes (7:57) with optional director commentary.

VIDEO – 3.75/5 | AUDIO – 3.5/5

Dead Within comes to DVD with a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer that looks good and given most of the movie takes place at night, has decent and stark dark levels.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is suitable and effective, though nothing extraordinary. Dialogue sounds mostly clear and ambient noises make use of the front and rear channels.

OVERALL – 2.75/5

Overall, to be perfectly honest, I’m not a fan of zombie shows or movies with few exceptions (“The Walking Dead”), so Dead Within wasn’t exactly my cup of tea yet the psychological aspects were at least interesting and co-writer/director Ben Wagner at least gives some suspenseful atmosphere. The DVD released by Millennium Entertainment is thin with OK audio and video but only a set of deleted scenes in the features department.
