While it’s clearly the worst season yet, “True Blood” The Complete Third Season still an enjoyable 12 episodes that fans will want to check out. As usual, the Blu-ray boasts superb picture and audio quality along with a fine selection of bonus features, something that normally gets cut back now-a-days.

I Am Number Four is really not a bad movie, it just never really hits the sweet spot. It has a bloated run time, yet feels unfinished. While still having a kick-ass soundtrack, I can’t help but feel Disney didn’t really ‘feel’ this film either – nor did the two main stars. The features are lacking as-is the picture quality. It is worth a rental, however.
The Firm is a top notch and taut legal thriller showcasing why Tom Cruise was a superstar in the ‘90s with a great supporting cast who fit their roles perfectly, avid readers of the novel will disagree, however. The Blu-ray itself has a nice video transfer and an acceptable audio while failing in the features depart, although it’s no surprise Paramount wouldn’t spring for new features.
I guess Money Train has that so bad its good aspect going for it, especially in regards to Robert Blake’s inane performance but otherwise it’s just another forgettable action piece of the 1990s. In comparison with other buddy comedies, it also falls way short as I didn’t feel the comradery between Snipes and Harrelson and the story never quite gels either as it wasn’t what it was.
Almost done… almost done. Season Four of “The Twilight Zone” is interesting, but there are far more misses here than hits. Image has still retained the perfect video and audio presentation, and special features are a wee bit slimmer this time (due to fewer episodes). Still this a great set worth owning for any fan of the series.
The Hit List is a little better than I had expected going in but at the same time, it is just another direct-to-video flick with a Blu-ray release that has no features and good but unremarkable video and audio transfers. If you like Cuba Gooding Jr. and/or Cole Hauser and have 90-minutes to spare on Friday or Saturday night, then you might take a chance with this one once it comes down in price.
Vanishing on 7th Street is a film with plenty of potential but poor execution especially in regards to the screenplay and characters that are either unlikable or are forgettable/unremarkable, a description that goes for the entire film in general. I would, however, give it a moderate recommendation if you can get it cheap as either a rental or purchase.
The Rite places itself amongst the many others who have tried to tackle the all important question as to what kind of power the Devil and his minions can possess on this earth after which we get the answer and it’s often disappointing. This movie however does have Anthony Hopkins going for it since he seemed to show up on set and give it his all in a role that could’ve been cheesy and/or laughable but lending credibility.
It’s a shame that The Other Woman didn’t quite come together. I thought Natalie Portman once against puts on a good and even brave performance but everything else around her from the supporting cast (mainly the miscasting of a love interest) to the story itself doesn’t help matters.
