You Again is a decent family comedy that I think the whole family will enjoy. The Blu-ray boasts average Picture and Audio but it’s really lacking in the Special Features department. This might just be Bell’s best movie since Forgetting Sarah Marshall… so there’s that.

THE MOVIE – 3.5/5
For Marnie (Bell), high school was a horror movie, and her brother’s wedding is the sequel when her archival comes back to haunt her and his bride. It’s a nice girl versus mean girl in this hysterical reunion with one person Marnie would really like to forget. And if that weren’t enough, Marnie’s mom (Curtis) reunites with her own high school nemesis (Weaver).
I barely remember You Again even hitting theaters, so its release on Home Video is the chance for many to actually watch this film. And I’ve got to say – I was pleasantly surprised. Kristen Bell has starred in some real stinkers the past few years (Pulse, When in Rome), which means I typically force myself to watch her films just out of pure love for the actress.
At least here, the films is not over-the-top comedic (like When in Rome) and Bell can show a bit of her acting chops. Odette Yustman also is a great surprise as I loved her in ABC’s short lived “October Road”, and she plays the mean girl who actually really does love the guy really well.
The film is very paint-by-numbers. You can pretty much guess the conclusion of the film within the first 15 minutes, but at least the ride is pretty fun. It does turn into bit of a slapstick comedy, but I can only imagine this film will be young teens or mothers looking to get away for a few hours. I’ve got to say – how I enjoyed this film is beyond me. I really went into it thinking I would be staring at the display hoping for it to end, but for some reason, I totally dug this film. It makes me want to re-watch When In Rome… nahh.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.5/5
This release includes a slip cover and all features are presented in HD.
11 Deleted Scenes (27 Minutes) – I sat through all of these and found a few comedic moments, but most of it is simply scene extensions. Only the addition of a Betty White scene seems like it would fit well within the film, but since the film is already well over 100 minutes long, maybe they should have cut a bit more out.
And rounding out the disc is Following Fickman (7 Minutes) which is a bunch of people going bonkers over how nice and awesome Andy Fickman is. Ask the Cast (1 Minute) is Betty White talking for a minute, Funny or Die (3 Minutes) is the cast making fun of Bell and a Blooper Reel (5 Minutes). Wow, talk about sparse.
A DVD Copy is also included.

VIDEO – 4.5/5
You Again is presented in 2.35:1 on a 50GB Disc. Disney continues its streak of great looking discs with this Blu-ray release which looks incredibly real. No grain and colors really pop. It’s hard to find any fault with the picture quality.

AUDIO – 4.5/5
Disney has included an English 5.1 DTS MA Track for this release. Like most films of this nature, Dialogue is the name of the game with no issues. Surround is used fairly frequently throughout the film and this too sounds just great. It’s getting harder and harder to write these reviews as they are all pretty much the same.
