Beauty and the Briefcase wasn’t nearly as awful as I expected (admittedly I did laugh a couple of times) it to be yet when one’s expectations are already on the floor, there’s nowhere to go but up. While the set-up might be different, it’s still your standard romantic-comedy formula right up to the predictable and, in this case, gag-inducing ending.
Jack Goes Boating might be worth checking out for the performances and while Hoffman’s direction isn’t too bad, the story had much to be desired and probably could’ve used another rewrite (with a new writer). If you’re a fan of Hoffman’s work then maybe it’d be worth a rental otherwise I think you can skip this character drama.
While the final battle at the end was awesome, I don’t see myself ever watching this film again. Oh, maybe I will since they apparently plan on making two sequels to the film. I smell a Direct to DVD/Blu-ray success here just like From Dusk Till Dawn. Can’t wait to own that triple pack for $5.99 from my local Wal-Mart…
I’ve stuck with the Saw series since the start, and really enjoyed the ending (even though it provides little closure and sets up more films in the series). Fans will love to see how it all ends, even if it really is the end.

“Laugh it Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy” has its moments but I think because I’m not the biggest fan of “Family Guy”, the humor didn’t quite reach me as it would others who are fans. I did find some funny scenes and gags throughout “Blue Harvest”, a few less in “Something, Something, Something Dark Side” and even less (almost nill) in “It’s a Trap”.
What started off as an interesting and creepy thriller, The Traveler soon unravels into a trivial horror movie that makes absolutely no sense and features some of the worst acting I’ve seen in the past year. Val Kilmer, God bless his soul, gives it a valiant try but the script is so bad and some of the directing was awful that there is absolutely no reason to even give this turkey a try.
Stone had the talent to be a special movie but it didn’t quite measure up especially with the screenplay. De Niro himself is sadly just OK in his role while Norton, as usual, excels playing a tormented character who you’re not exactly sure what to make of. You might find this to be good as a weekday rental otherwise wait to check it out on HBO in a year or so.
There’s no reason why I should love You’ve Got Mail as much as I do because there’s so much going against it. But I think it has to do with the old fashioned Hollywood chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan it could also be that so many other romantic comedies pair up some of the most obnoxious actors working today or actors with no chemistry.
Takers isn’t a bad movie per se more that it doesn’t offer anything new to the genre and features characters who, for the most part, aren’t very well rounded save for maybe Idris Elba’s character. I did enjoy a couple of the scenes which were efficiently shot but otherwise this is a very forgettable film.
