Since soccer is not a huge sport in America, this is a rather odd release on Blu-ray. With the lack of 3D Discs at retail, I’m sure early adopters will snatch this up, but I can’t say that I’m very thrilled with the 3D.

Overall, this Peanuts Holiday Collection is well worth purchasing even if you already own the DVD versions as the upgrade in video and audio makes it worthwhile. For me, I’ve never been a big fan of Charlie Brown and friends but there is a fun innocence about it showing why it has the resilience it does. The features aren’t anything groundbreaking but do give a glimpse at the background for each special as well as giving bonus episodes in high-def.
“V” The Complete First Season has plenty of promise and while it’s not quite even from the beginning of the season to the end, I do think it has the potential to be great. At the same time, I am intrigued to see how they can keep the series fresh if it even gets beyond the upcoming second season. The Blu-ray itself has a decent selection of features and the video/audio both are good enough, but nothing amazing.
Altitude could have been a great air disaster movie before they threw in some supernatural “Twilight Zone” moments which completely took me out of the film. On the positive side, for such a fairly unknown cast, I thought for the most part they had some good chemistry together and the film looks good for a low budget project.
The first theatrical trailer for Warner’s Green Lantern is now online. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong and Tim Robbins in the DC Comics anticipated adaptation set for release on June 17, 2011.
Unlike the 3D presentation, I found the 2D to be very fulfilling. The film though still does not entertain me much, and I don’t see myself ever wanting to re-watch it again. But for fans of the classic tale, or parents willing to sit through this with their little ones, sure, give it a shot. Just don’t be upset if you find yourself holding the same opinion I have.
The trailer for The Mechanic was released starring Jason Statham, Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland and is set for release on January 28th, 2011 and was directed by Simon West (Tomb Raider).
Fire & Ice: The Dragon Chronicles didn’t exactly dispel my low expectations and while the acting by the more experienced primary actors came out fine, the supporting cast was absolutely atrocious to go along with some suspect CGI work, though I can forgive that keeping in mind this is a low-budget feature anyway.
